A courtesy vehicle will pick you up from your accommodation in Broome and transfer you to Ocean Dream. Be welcomed aboard and introduced to your captain, crew and fellow guests as you enjoy a cold drink whilst cruising past the famous Cable Beach. Settle in for the night as we steam along the Dampier Peninsula and past Cape Leveque.

Silica Beach is located on Hidden Island and forms part of the 800 islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Named after the high content of Silica in the sand, the beach is a lovely place to swim and stretch your legs. Enjoy an expedition up Crocodile Creek and a freshwater swim in a spring fed waterhole. Anchorage overnight in one of the many beautiful creeks.

The Horizontal Falls are one of the natural wonders of the Kimberley. Guests have the option of taking a fast boat ride through the falls and a scenic helicopter flight for an aerial view. We take a tender vessel excursion up Cyclone Creek to explore the incredible rock formations created billions of years ago. Fascinating wildlife to be observed in water and on land.

Montgomery reef is a diverse coral reef system that appears to rise on a falling tide. Only accessible by boat, the reef attracts an abundance of marine life including fish, crabs, turtles, manta rays, dugongs and crocodiles. Later on, we will explore Red Cone Creek with a spot of fishing or mud crabbing, followed by a swim at the beautiful Ruby Falls.

Experience the King Cascade Falls from the bow of Ocean Dream as she is manoeuvred directly under the waterfalls. Take a hike up to the top pool for a freshwater swim and later there is the opportunity to fish in the St. George Basin.

Today we are cruising past an assortment of islands that form the Bonaparte Archipelago. Arriving at the Hunter River, one of the most picturesque places in the Kimberley, there will be plenty of fishing on offer. Scenic cruise along Porosus Creek and optional helicopter flights will be available over the multi-tiered Mitchell Falls.

Tender vessel excursion out to Jar Island to explore the fascinating Gwion Gwion art, also known as Bradshaw Art. Named after Joseph Bradshaw who in 1891 became the first European to record these amazing paintings. Unique to the Kimberley region, Gwion Gwion art is recorded to be over 17,000 years old. Opportunity to walk to the crash site of DC3 aircraft which crashed in 1942, located on the eastern side of Vansittart Bay. Evening steam around Cape Londonderry, the most northern tip of Western Australia.

We visit the MV Koolama stranding site and survivor camp at Koolama Bay. In 1942, a Japanese air attack bombed the Koolama and it is significant to the Kwini people who helped the 180 passengers and crew to reach safety. Beach and waterfall excursion in this beautiful location.

At high tide we cross the sandbars of the King George River and make our way up to the falls. The King George River has the highest twin falls in Western Australia, at over 80m. Experience the incredible power of the falls as Ocean Dream is manoeuvred up close. For those that are feeling adventurous, there is a hike to the top of the falls and a freshwater swim.

At high tide, we cross the sandbars of the King George River and make our way up to the falls. It’s an enticing welcome to one of the Kimberley’s most magnificent natural wonders. The dual waterfall has a vertical drop of over 80m, making it one the tallest waterfalls in Western Australia. For those willing hikers, you can climb to the top for a breathtaking view of the river below, a truly amazing experience as you admire the beauty of the untamed landscape.

A visit to Camden Harbour and Sheep Island will start this day, soak up the history of the first attempted European settlement in the Kimberley. Join one of the expedition tenders for a spot of exploring or have another go at fishing and collecting oysters. Alternatively relax on board in the spa or sundeck and take in the beautiful scenery. We will then keep cruising passing the remote settlement of Kuri Bay.

Back on the tenders for an excursion up Red Cone Creek for a refreshing swim and mud bath at the beautiful Ruby Falls. On the falling tide, we cruise and take an unforgettable look at the spectacular Montgomery Reef which you have to see to believe. Watch as the sea rapidly recedes, creating a waterfall effect as the reef rises out of the water. Jump in the tenders to take a closer look at the edge of the reef and observe the many marine species, including turtles.

Enjoy an expedition up Crocodile Creek and a freshwater swim in a spring fed waterhole. Take in the beautiful scenery as we cruise through Yampi Sound to Silica Beach, located on Hidden Island. Forming part of the Buccaneer Archipelago, it is named after the high content of Silica in the sand, and is a lovely place to swim and stretch your legs. This is your last evening under the Kimberley skies as we cruise past Cape Leveque and along the Dampier Peninsula towards Broome.

*Due to the large tidal variations in the Kimberley, we are not always able to guarantee to keep with the planned itinerary and adjustments may be considered by the captain during the cruise. Our Wilderness Cruises are adventure based and you can expect to see and experience more than what is listed on the itinerary. Weather changes and other vessel movements will be taken into consideration to ensure an exceptional wilderness experience for our guests.

 

The Uunguu Visitor Pass (UVP) is now required for all visitors along the Kimberley coastline. This fee is paid to the Uunguu native title holders, also known as the Wunambal Gaambera people for access along the coastline and onto their land. The fee collected by Ocean Dream Charters is passed directly on to the Uunguu native title holders and is separate to cruise costs. The following fees apply in 2019/2020:
